Physical Characteristics
Apparent Age: 18
Actual Age: 18
Gender: Male
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 169 lbs
Appearance:
Xan has a thin but toned build. His self-cut short black hair, he keeps a black scarf wrapped around his neck, just in case he ends up in a cold location. Black shirt and bow gloves keeps him warm enough in the cold but not too hot in a desert region. At his legs he has also black pants and sandals on his feet. Xan has a very serious look on his face, dark blue eyes glaring back at any who oppose him. On his left arm he has his family’s symbol tattooed in remembrance of his father and mother. He keeps his bow usually on his back, but his brother designed it to be foldable and easily drawn and used. His quiver stays on his back as well.
Behavioral Characteristics
Personality:
Xan has lost much of his innocence and has become a very cold and calculating machine. At first glance he seems a gloomy individual, dark appearance and brooding surface attitude, but that’s barely scratching the surface. His true friends will know that he is much a likable guy, though a bit cold. He is usually thinking about the next bounty. He can be considered a hero in the right light, as he does not go after the highest bounties but what the bounty entails. If his targets have been attacking villages randomly or have been on killing sprees, that bounty becomes his top priority. Thieving or defacement of property is a bit low on his hate list.
As a person, Xan can be quite cheerful. He loves to gamble and loves a good joke or two. He is no heartless individual by far, but he is not unwilling to deal with people who stand in his way. His laugh light-hearted but his glare can penetrate metal. In a fight he will always start at his near best, using trump cards as surprise tactics.

Biographical Information
Profession(s): Marksman, Hunter, Assassin
Hometown: Whiskey Peak
History:
Bario and Yura lived in Whiskey Peak as blacksmith shopkeepers. They dealt in all kinds of arms, from cannons to swords, guns to hammers. The Gerad’s were known as the some of the best metalworkers known to the Grand Line. They showed no favorites, be they bounty hunter, marine or pirate. Charged the same price for everything and never cheated anyone. Their works were always top of the line. Some even say they have made weapons for high bounty pirates as well. But all this praise is for naught. Bario and Yura were no interesting people; they had talent so they used it. They knew how to smith weapons and they prided on their creations. They were a humble couple, but well respected and loved throughout Cactus Island.
Yura gave birth to her first son, Bario Jr., who grew into their love of metalworking as much as they loved it. He was not very talented in creation, but he was brilliant when it came to refining, making even the dullest blade sharpened to life. Bario was twelve when tragedy struck. His mother, pregnant with a soon to be sibling, fell ill suddenly. It took a toll on her and when his little brother was born, and she was left with little strength after his birth. She asked her eldest son and her husband to take great care of themselves. They asked her, what they should name the newborn she replied smiling, “Alexander.” Bario laughed noting the normality in the name, but it broke into tears as he watched his wife die.
But that hardly broke the blacksmith family. Bario and Jr. went back to work hammering away at weapons at order. Jr. had much taken the place of his mother, spending every bit of time he could spare with his younger brother. They turned away help with the child, believing that they would persevere and strike onwards as a family. Because of this many family friends and customers gladly gave more than they normally would pay for workings and kept the family afloat on good will. As Alexander Yu Gerad, or Xan for short, grew older he found himself unable to do well in the smith. He was not necessarily terrible at the job; he simply found no inspiration from working there. His father and brother did not shun him for it, as he was free to be whatever it was he was born to be.
At age nine, Xan found himself unrivaled in accuracy with long range weapons. His childhood friends used to fling rocks with slingshots at empty bottles and he hit his every mark. It was one of these outings that brought him to his best friend. On his eleventh birthday he got into a gamble with a few of his slingshot rivals saying that he couldn’t hit a target 200 feet away. Xan boasted that not only could he do it, if they gave him one single day he could do it with a simple bow and arrow. The bet taken, Xan told his father, who crafted him a simple but no less amazing bow and a few arrows. He took one shot of the bow and grinned at his 100% accuracy. He could never miss, at least that’s what he believed.
The next day he went out to the open field with his friends and rivals. The stage had already been setup for him: at the far end of the meadow was a fence with a single wooden plaque resting upon it. Xan took aim, and fired. The arrow flew and Xan took off after it. And when he got to the fence he found the arrow lodged two centimeters below the plaque. He fell to his knees not knowing how he could have missed. And then it hit him... he had never adjusted for the distance or for the weight of the arrow. It could never have hit dead on with just a straight path. Knowing he had lost he paid his gamble sighing. And from that moment on he knew what he was to be: a marksman.
After his twelfth birthday and telling his father what he knew what he was good at, his father told him that the best thing to do would become a bounty hunter or a pirate. His father did not condone the acts of piracy but he would love his son all the same. His brother said that he might do well in the marines, but Xan shook his head. He was a gambler. He knew that he would not feel right upholding the law when he broke it. Around the same time Xan had also found an abandoned hawk nest. There had been a bad storm and the egg had been left behind or worse the parents had not made it through it. But Xan took it in all the same and named the chick Niche. Niche was a happy bird sitting in Xan’s hair comfortably ruffling her feathers.
At age fifteen Xan’s somewhat straight arrow personality erupted.
It was any ordinary day for him. He would go out to the fields and practice with Niche with his bow and arrow. He practiced sun up to sundown every day so on his eighteenth birthday Xan would be more than ready to take down pirates or any other bounties without mercy. He returned to the smith to see his brother on the floor unconscious outside the shop. Niche took flight over to her master’s brother and began pulling on his ear, a small prank that Xan had taught her to do to his older brother. Jr. slowly sat up, wakening and then his eyes went wide with fear. He and his little brother raced into the shop to see their father bleeding from the chest. Jr. went to him quickly trying as best he could to help the old man, but Bario pushed his son away.
“Alexander... the... box... underneath my... my work table... your... your 18th birthday present...” and the man spoke no more words.
Jr. explained that two men, pirates, had come wanting to know the location of a ‘devil fruit.’ He did not know what it was, but Xan did. He went to the box and opened it to reveal a golden fruit with a whole in the middle. It looked much like a cog wheel. Xan did not even question it. His father had saved it all these years for him for some unknown reason but he would not squander the gift. And after finishing every last bit of the fruit, the trauma of his father’s death set in. He did not cry. He did not panic. He no longer felt those...
Only pure unadulterated hatred for all pirates.
The pirates who attacked the smith were laying waste to the town. But high in the clock tower of the town Xan sat watching them. Glaring down at them. Niche flew over head crying loudly and then began making a circle around one.

Tick Tock Lightning Flash
An arrow flew from his bow and the speed of it created a flash of lightning that struck its target .00292 seconds after it had left the bow. Xan knew how much time it had taken. He turned his bow to the next target as Niche flew overhead of the pirate. This time he fired two, and the time it took in between each arrow was .51293 seconds but they both traveled at the same rate.
Since that day Xan has not returned home. He hunts pirates without remorse or pity. He rarely sends letters home but his demeanor, his brother agrees, is much colder than it used to be.
