Hometown:Dawn Island - East Blue
History: Kira, born a small girl on Dawn Island was raised into a relatively life for the citizens, hearing the tales of world renowned pirates, such people who are still talked about even in present day across the blues. The Pirates which had achieved more in their lives then anyone and ushered in the beginning of a new age. Of course even with the executions of a few of these men, the stories didn't cease to exist but yet grew in strength from their infamy. As such the general concept of Piracy which had enticed many of man was passed on to the children growing up no doubt to also pull them in with its promises of treasure and fame. Although for most this left the general public in fear of the day that their villages and towns would be invaded and plundered for whatever small amounts of belongings these people may have had. They fearing to be nothing more then a stepping stone for some scoundrel on his way to the Grand Line to begin their journey for the most infamous of treasures.
Kira's like many others lives were led on to believe one simple thing, Pirates were thieving, blood thirsty animals which needed to be brought to justice. Monsters to be feared and condemned for falling into such a loathsome lifestyle. Naturally this general consensus was reenforced by Wanted Posters offering a bounty for the wanted Criminals which began to whole new chapter to the story of Pirates versus the Government. A part of the story to which Kira would find herself forever entangled. Being raised under a loving roof by her parents, she was brought up to believe the same thing as everyone else. As she aged and began to grasp more and more what she was being told out of fear for her safety by her parents and those around the village, she began to develop a strong hatred towards these beings. Gradually as she grew up, Kira knew she wanted more then anything to become a bounty hunter, to bring these criminals to Justice. A Childish goal to be sure to be somewhat of a savior of the people, in essence a superhero of sorts, but Kira was far more dedicated then most.
During this time, Kira had managed to make a friend in another young girl about her age, Asura. A young girl with shorter red hair which covered her left eye, only ever revealing her right which was a Dark Brown, The friendship which had spouted quickly from a persist Kira. Eventually spiraling into a partnership as the two swore to one another to become Bounty Hunters together to bring those filthy Pirates to justice. Something that they did, as soon as they were old enough, the two left Dawn Island and began to travel the East Blue via a small boat, scouring any Bounty they could, even collecting a few other members for their group along the way. They believing that with more help, catching these bad guys would be a snap. Really all they had managed to do was prove they were still unprepared to this time of job however. While they may have collected more help along the way, bringing their parties size up to about five members including themselves, about as young as they were, they in the time they had been traveling had yet to catch any pirates of any sort.
It wasn't the fact that they were defeated, but yet they weren't even in the ballpark. They were nothing more then a group of punk kids who traveled from village to village raising their voices and boasting proudly of what they were going to do the money that the collected from any Bounty Poster they had collected across their travels, however when it came down to it, they never delivered. All their rabble rousing was just simply that, children with hopes and dreams of doing things upon growing up and yet not following through on their ridiculous claims. While as the other three they had picked up on their travels were enjoying the ride they were getting, Kira and Asura on the other hand were not feeling the same way. Kira felt as if their entourage was to blame, feeling they unnecessary and holding the two of them back. Asura on the other hand had taken a more diabolical opinion in her mind and seeing their friendship as the issue, believing the simple fact that neither wanted to say anything to the other in fear of stepping on toes was a glaring issue.
Eventually such an issue had come to a head one day whilst out on their travels. Still between villages on a somewhat larger island in the East Blue. Kira having enough of their constant failures to even SEE a pirate much less catch one had stopped them in the middle of the road to bring the problem to the surface. She still tried to favor her long time friend, and instead went after the other three in their group. She calling them out on their contributions to the group and what it is exactly they are there for. Kira's explosive personalty not being the easiest to cope with eventually leading this confrontation into a full out scale fight. These three drawing their weapons while as Kira who opted for her fists merely stuck to what she knew. As she quick engaged them, but the numbers would be prove to be too great for her. She managing to get a few good shots in and dodge their weapons well enough but getting attacked from three sides is rough on anyone.
As one of the three went to deal a disabling blow to Kira, Asura had stepped in and blocked it for her friend, flashing her a grin of reassurance as she then assisted in protecting Kira and the two of them fought off their allies now turned enemy from Kira's assertions and after a long drawn out battle resulting in a few cuts and scrapes on both women, they soon stood proudly over the fallen bodies of their former comrades. They having been knocked unconscious in the battle leaving both Kira and Asura standing, Kira wounded heavily while as Asura was merely winded. The former who went out of her way to take blows for her friend who was helping her in this time of need, showing true devotion to their words so long ago, they wanting to be Bounty Hunters together as partners. Beaten and battered, Kira did her best to stand, slightly bloody from a hard fight. She embraced Asura, partly from needing something to hold her up, and partly to show her appreciation as the two shared a long hug.
This hug which they shared delayed for several moments, for whats someone would have assumed was a tender moment. In reality however, Kira had felt a piecing in her lower back near her ribs. Looking down she could just see the tip of a sword peaking out from her stomach. With a glance upward she could see the face of Asura who stared down at her coldly, an expressionless face, a soulless look in her visible eye. Feeling betrayed, Kira could do nothing but allow the tears to fall from her eyes as she looked up at her friend who had literally back stabbed her. She could hear the sound of her blood dripping as it made contact with the ground, she could see it coating the blade and the droplets exploding as they hit the ground, covering both her and Asura's boots in splatters. Asura then pulled her blade free which only earned a groan from Kira who continued to look up into Asura's face, almost as if pleading for an explanation to this treachery. All she got however was her friend to lean down as she held her up and plant a kiss on her forehead before she was finally let go and allowed to fall to her back on the ground.
To this day, Kira remembers the sound of the blade being pulled free, and the sound of Asura walking away as she faded to darkness. The image of her friend as she walked away without even so much as turning her head to look back at her. That feeling of betrayal and sorrow as she knew that she was going to die here, she was going to bleed to death from a wound inflicted upon her by someone she trusted, someone she loved like a sister. Her vision beginning to fade, she trying to open her mouth to call out to Asura one last time but yet nothing would come out, the feeling of complete dread as one can feel death breathing down their neck, coldness overtaking you as your blood painted the ground underneath you. She began to fade, and soon she was taken by the Darkness, truly the end for her she thought.
Still even in all this she could till see visions of her life prior. she could see herself still a little girl in her village playing with Asura, the two of them truly happy. A Time before they had any care in the world, a time to which they truly were kids, running around and laughing. The vision quickly took a dark turn however as the bright sky which hung happily above their heads soon turned black. She still a little girl turned around to see Asura frown up as she was just moments ago, a young adult staring down at her with those same emotionless eyes. That cold careless gaze sending a shiver up her spine, something which only worsened as she heard the sounds of screaming behind her. Immediately whipping around she spied a glimpse of Asura who seconds ago was just behind her, now pushing her sword through a grown up version of herself. She bearing witness to watching her own selves body fall to the ground lifeless as she had pierced her heart, very much so as to what she felt.
As she continued to look on at the scene, she could hear maniacal laughter from behind her. Turning around yet again she was treated once more to the sight of looking up at her friend who continued to chuckle, almost teasingly as she looked down upon little Kira. tears streaming down her face as she held her hands up defenselessly as she backpedaled a few steps, eventually tripping over the body of herself all grown up as she had just seen slain. She falling to her behind as she then saw Asura who had been watching with psychotic glee began to slowly stalk her. Walking at a slow pace while as the young Kira continued to back pedal, now practically walking on her hands as she slid herself back across the ground, watching Asura grow nearer and nearer with each step. When there was but a mere step length between them, Kira who couldn't even push herself to her feet out of fear quickly spun around onto her stomach to desperately crawl away, she feeling the grip of a hand grab her by the ankle, she letting out a scream in response.
Sobbing loudly she looked back as if to plea with her stalker of a best friend. She was shocked to see no one there, yet she could still feel the creepy after touch of her skin around her ankle having been grabbed, almost as if something still had a hold of her, yet she could clearly see that wasn't the case, although it didn't stop her sobbing, nor did it make her feel more safe. In fact she began to panic as she looked around in a frantic mess for where the crazed Asura could have possibly went, her heart sinking deeper and deeper each second that search turned up nothing. She felt she nearly had a panic attack once she immediately heard and saw two boots make contact with the dirt around her head and a hand grabbed her by the face, ripping her from the ground and immediately turning and forcing her against the side of a house which had not been there before. She feeling the palm and fingers of Asura's normally petite hand pushing against her, boring her head, compressing it against the study wall of this home covering all but her right eye which stared back at the maniacal face of her friend who had a bloodthirtsy look upon her face. Slowly Kira watched wad she raised her sword high into the air, allowing a chuckle or two escape her lips as visions of her hacking away at her small frame filled her mind, blood splashing across her face as she howled with laughter, hack after hack to her small body flashing before her eyes before she eventually saw Asura finally swing the blade.
Kira awoke with a loud scream, finally awaking from the nightmare she just had, she covered in sweat and a an expression as if she had seen a ghost. Her breathing erratic, taking quick, short breaths as she just stared straight ahead and the white blanket which covered her lower body. Wait a moment, Blanket? Kira had taken a quick glance around her surroundings to find that she was in a room rather then a dirt road where she had collapsed, or for that matter, waking up at all as she assumed she had died. Upon closer inspection she noted that she was laying in a bed, a small table next to it with a few bloody bandage wraps laying inside a metal tray. Lifting up the blankets she looked under to find that she was in nothing but her underwear, several wraps around her legs and arms, especially around her lower stomach and back, a dark red spot visible. Moving herself a bit she looked underneath where she had just been laying to spot a bloodstain on the otherwise clean sheets. How long has she been laying here?
The sound of a door opening could be heard and Kira's attention was immediately drawn to it The door which swung open to this rustic looking room which was kept neat and tidy, sun shining in through a window at the foot of the bed. In from the now cracked door stepped in a figure, a figure of an elderly man. The man seemed to have a warm smile on his face as he peered in at the now awake Kira through his glasses. He was quick to welcome her back to the world of the living and introduce himself as Reks and began to explain to her the situation. Going into great detail about finding her collapsed on the road all alone and wounded. Mentioning that it was he who had taken care of her wounds. Upon hearing this Kira attempted to move a bit further then she had, to try and get out of this bed, but found herself unable too. Any attempt was met with unparalleled pain which caused her to wince in response before collapsing back to the bed.
Reks never once changed his expression as he looked on at her attempts to move, he merely warned her to relax, he offering her a place to stay as she rested up. It wasn't as if she had much a choice as she lacked the strength to leave anyhow. Kira remained in bed for several days as this old man Reks continued to nurse her back to health, supplying her with food, changing her bandages and treating her wounds, giving her a comfy place to sleep. All the while Kira couldn't be more miserable. Not at all ungrateful for what Reks was doing for her, but yet the fact she had just been betrayed by her best friend, her only friend and she couldn't move a muscle to do anything about it. She could only lay there and wallow in her own sorrow as she reflected upon it. Why had Asura done this to her? Was the constant thought on her mind. Thoughts of anger and revenge also flooded her thoughts only to be met with the painful tears as she realized she had been plotting against a friend of hers.
She may have stabbed her in the back, but the two of them had been friends for so long, she didn't think she could do the same thing that Asura had done, did this make her weaker then her? This truly was hell for this young woman, her own internal imprisonment locked away in the maze which was the mind. Her suffering which had been caught by Reks who as soon as she was able too, began to push this young woman to get out of bed, a physical therapy of sorts to get the feeling of moving down again. Although at first this task was met with a great bit of difficulty, Kira was quick to regain herself. Able to finally walk from the room which she felt was her own personal cage for the last few agonizingly long days. Upon emerging from the room she was treated for the first time with the view of the rest of the home, it looking like the room she had spent almost a week in. Very rustic almost seeming like it had been built by a craftsmen with his own tools and supplies on his own.
Something else to note would be a very uncomfortable looking couch of sorts which had a blanket and pillow sloppily thrown over it. Narrowing her eyes slightly, Kira began to look the house over and noticed no other rooms other then the one she had just been staying in. She almost felt herself tear up at the idea that this whole time this man of such age has been sleeping on something like that while as she had been laying in something of comfort, healing up. Near the other end of the home sat the kitchen, table and s single chair included, a small chest of drawers about waist high stood against the wall directly to her right. Moving to take a closer look she saw a few framed pictures, the frames looking hand crafted aswell. In these pictures sat a few portraits of a much younger him she would assume and a woman, both smiling in each picture they ere in together. She could only assume it was his wife or close relative, judging by this home however, she must have passed away regardless.
There was a picture which stood out to her the most however, near the back, hidden for the most part. She carefully picked it up to inspect it, expecting to find yet another picture of him and the woman, but instead she was horrified to see something entirely different. The setting of the picture was clearly on a ship, and not a marine ship as indicated by a few things, a Jolly Roger being held up in the background by a few mean. Also in the picture stood two men, one being the young man from the pictures before, and another wearing a full captains attire, the two of them clearly having a good time as they had mugs of alcohol raised high whilst clearly laughing allowed. Setting the picture down gently, Kira turned solemnly and looked at this man with no longer a look of sorrow but one of anger as he simply stood there smiling, his expression never changing even as she accused him of being a filthy scoundrel of a pirate.
Enraged by the thought of being assisted by the scum of the earth, he beliefs upon being raised with kicking in. She saw nothing but red as she looked upon this man's face. She seeing his smile as no longer warm but one of mockery. She believing he enjoyed the conflicting thoughts he had now just set forth upon her, as if he had purposely planned this. In a fit of rage, Kira began to march for the door, she only taking two steps before falling to her face on the floor, her body still to weak to hold itself up. Falling with thunderous impact, Reks merely stood there, hand behind his back as he continued to look on at Kira who glared upward at him, she doing her best to maneuver herself across the floor toward the door but she found this attempts no matter how hard she tried to be quite useless. Slamming her fists angrily into the ground she once again looked up to Reks who only motioned an arm toward the room she had spent her time in, and back to that bed she had just crawled from. She practically spit at the offer and demanded the couch, unwilling to take a pirate's pity.
Reks simply answered this, without a single word by simply sitting down upon the couch, clearly showing her that he wasn't going to accept her demand for it. Angered by this, Kira once again began to struggle to move across the floor, but a sudden jerk soon opened her wound up again, a mix of pain and blood loss soon caused her to black out soon after. She soon awoke to the familiar setting of the bed, once again lying in it, only this time she had Reks sitting in a chair at her side, setting a used bandage into the metal tray, it covered in dried blood. She immediately looked under the covers to see her bare midsection, no longer covered by said bandages which protected her wound. She quickly looked back at him as he was pulling free a new fresh wrap for her, looking ready to apply it only to have her angrily protest, warning him not to touch her. Still, he retained that warm smile which he had shown her the entire time she had remembered seeing him, he never once showing her anything else, which struck her as odd, even as she yelled and insulted him.
He merely offered her the wrap himself, as if asking her to apply it herself then. Stunned by this, she could only stare on dumbfounded before crossing her arms and pouting as she looked away angrily from him. Knowing he had won, he was quick to bandage her up again, even through the various protests and cries to "take it easy" and yelps of pain, she believed she may have even hit him somewhere in there. Still he did this with a smile and merely left her to continue to rest. It wasn't but ten minutes later that Kira had devised a plan to escape. Slowly and gingerly she got up from that bed, her plan was very simple, she was simply going to tip toe out of here. Slowly she made her way for the door, it taking what seemed an eternity to cross the room but she knew it would be worth it to be away from that filthy pirate. Slowly and carefully she reached a hand out for the knob of the door, only for as her hand was a mere inch or two away, for it to turn. The door flying open and cracking her in the head and forcing her to fall back to the floor, falling with a yelp.
Rubbing her head she sat up too look in the direction of the door which was wide open. She could see Reks standing there with that same smile on his face as he held a bowl out infront of him. Her head throbbed as she looked skyward with pain filled eyes as he casually strolled in the room, she cursing at him as he simply walked past her and picked up that metal tray from the nightstand next to the bed and placed the bowl of stew down upon it, a spoon sticking out of the bowl, just as casually as he had entered he left without so much as another glance her way as he left the room and closed the door behind him. Leaving Kira to simply sit there and continue to rub her head. She wondered if it was dumb luck or he had planned the timing for that, but she didn't feel like finding out. Slowly and painfully she managed to lift her body up from the floor, still hurting from her wounds and made her way to the bed, defeated as she slowly began to eat the stew she was served.
This wouldn't be the first time either that this happened, Kira was often looking for her chances to escape. Once she had actually made it out into the living room of the home and to the front door, She happy to actually touch the knob without it spinning and cracking her in the forehead this time. With a quick look behind her to make sure the coast was clear and he wasn't standing behind her, waiting for her to make a move. She opened the door to the house and immediately turned white. Aside from being blinded temporarily from the instant sunlight which hit her in the face, she was treated to a truly terrifying sight. Out in the front yard stood Reks, with an axe in hand chopping wood. With a heavy swing downward her brought that axe down to split a log in half, slowly and creepily turning her head to face Kira int he doorway of the house. Her mouth agape and she full of fear, she quickly turned and slammed that door shut behind her, she now back in the house and hurrying back to the room. It had soon gotten to the point that she would simply walk without even the slightest hint of stealth, open her door to see if he were there, to see that smiling face she had grown to hate oh so much, sitting on the couch. She could only sigh heavily and shut the door again, turn and make her way back to the bed and fall face first upon it, clearly defeated.
She simply had to accept that this wasn't just some ordinary old geezer that she was trying to escape. Somehow this old guy was far craftier then she could have imagined, he always seemed to be one step ahead of her at all times and it drove her insane to think that. Still as she lie there, she couldn't help but reflect on all this. She had been fighting against this man, wanting to leave. Yet was he really that bad? Sure this may have been her way of just accepting the fact that she had a better chance of him dying before actually escaping unless he allowed it. Still she had thought about it before. With the time she had spent under this roof, he had not once raised his voice or so much as shown anything but the deepest care for her health. Even in her weakened state when she was the most vulnerable, there was nothing but care. This certainly was contradictory to the image of pirates that had been put into Kira's head growing up. Her visions of a pirate would have jumped at the firs chance to take advantage of her in this state and then do away with her, or even worse.
Certainly one wouldn't have fed her and nursed her wounds. Much less gave up their own bed to a person who would permanently stain the sheets with their blood. She would have been used up the first night and tossed out onto the road to continue dying if she didn't die then and there. Could it truly be that there were decent men amongst the sea? Impossible to think for sure having grown up like her, but then again with what had happened to her with Asura. If she had been asked weeks ago if she would have ever guessed that her best friend would stab her and leave her for dead she would have called you crazy and knocked your teeth in for talking ill of her friend. Thinking back to that mixed in with her current conflict certainly made her head throb as she tried to deal with what could be considered the reality of things. She soon began to think to an easy out, the simple word destiny. When in doubt one can always count on fate, could it be that she was destined to meet Reks, to learn the truth and in a sense be Reborn.
Reborn, born again with a new view on things, yes that must be what she was meant for. As her wounds began to heal she soon began to cope with this "realization" of hers. Though she was still too stubborn to admit it to this old geezer. On her road to recovery, she began to help around the house more. She soon found herself cooking meals, found herself outside chopping wood for the fireplace to keep the house warm. Slowly she began to feel like she was becoming herself again and she owed it to this man. Although she would never show him this, she always meeting him with a scowl to mask her inner conflict. Not wanting to admit that she was wrong to judge him based on the simple fact that he was a pirate. This wouldn't be rectified until an event as the two of them stood together on the front porch of the home, overlooking the sunset. Reks' home being quite a ways away from the nearest village left them in a rather secluded spot, which only made Kira's earlier escape attempts utterly futile, a punch in the face for her once she had found out after accepting her stay.
The old man and her stood side by side, enjoying the beauty of the sun off in the horizon, setting leaving an orange hue in the sky. Kira sneaking a few glances his way before turning her attention away, as he looked over to her aswell, smile still on his face. She almost didn't notice as he soon grabbed for his chest, that smile fading into a pained expression as he gasped for air. Shocked Kira turned just in time to see him falling forward from the porch. In an instant Kira shot a hand out and caught the old geezer, stopping him from falling from what she assumed was a heart attack. She was quickly annoyed, her brow furrowing slightly as she saw him look back at her with that smile yet again. He faking the whole incident almost as if he knew she would catch him. She glared back at him angrily for a moment before letting go of his shirt and allowing him to fall on his face to the ground, she marching back into the house after being tricked into showing the slightest bit of care for him as opposed to just letting him die.
This came with benefits however, The old man was quick to take her in as a pupil, training her in both combat and a skill she would find useful. Within that chest of drawers which the had spotted the pictures from before, Reks had pulled out a few maps and an old compass he had used in his days of piracy. He had made it perfectly clear that he intended to show Kira how to read a map, a compass and even draw one out, a few skills which she could find of vast importance one day, especially if she traveled the sea. She would have to tools available to her to find her way around East Blue without basically setting herself afloat in a barrel and letting what happens, happen. Training under him in combat also showed to be quite a surprise as he showed her how to be more adept with her hands as she refused a weapon. She trained with him for several years, learning some nifty techniques utilized by him and furthering her skills as a navigator, he hoping to see her off one day as a prized addition of a crew, utilizing the talents he was passing down to her, although he would never suggest such a thing to her.
This had gone on for a year or two, Reks training Kira to a level she never though possible of herself, something that if she had on that faithful day when Asura stabbed her in the back, she was sure it wouldn't have happened. She wouldn't have been as injured to of let it happen, not would Asura possibly seen her as useless, or whatever it was that she thought to just toss away their friendship as she did. Those eyes of hers still leaving a haunting image within her head from time to time. Something she merely shakes away as she didn't want to harbor any ill feelings towards what she still considered her best friend. Deep down she even wished to meet with her once again, not to punch her face in, but yet to question her as to why she did it. She wanting nothing more then a reason, she didn't want revenge, she didn't want excuses, she simply wanted the truth out of Asura.
Possibly it was these thoughts which fueled Kira onward to further her training along with Reks, something she never thought she would ever do, accepting a helping hand from a lowly pirate. Although Over the course of this time, Kira had grown to accept the simple fact that the stereotypes she had been lead to believe, the fear she was led to have against these men of the sea was not all true. As she knew first hand, people of any sort can truly be a bad person, not just a particular group, as anyone of those same people could be good. Although, not all things have a happy ending. Kira may have learned a life lesson which caused her to grow as a person. Her being reborn as she liked to call it into the world, it taking yet another turn in the wrong direction. A day which had began like any other day, this young woman rolling out of the bed she had pretty much inherited from the old man, something she continued to curse him over.
The two of them had made their way from the home out infront of it to their usual training spot. The two of them going to start up the day with a quick spar to get the blood flowing. The two of them started like any other time, both immediately rushing in and throwing heavy hands. Each feeling and hearing the wing from the others swift strikes, just able to barely dodge or parry the attack. Kira had been feeling particularly good on this day. She quick on her feet, showing heavy mobility as she ducked in and out, something which Rek's had taught her well. The old man however was not feeling the same way. As he was moving, he could feel a heavy strain in his chest, he had begun to sweat a bit more as time went on, something to which Kira had sailed to see, and wouldn't see until Rek's had collapsed mid step. Kira naturally thought nothing of it and urged him to stand back up and continue, asserting that she was just getting warmed up, however a lack of movement from the old man was enough to catch her eye as she gave him a light kick. When he didn't respond to this, she was quick to enter a serious fate as she called out to him. Dropping to her knees at his side, she soon rolled him over only to see a strained look on his face as he clutched at his chest.
Kira immediately picked him up in her arms and carried to the house, kicking the door open to both the front entrance and the bedroom to where she quickly lay him upon the bed she had laid upon for so long, where she rested her head each night. This being something something she had wanted to see for sometime now, he sleeping upon the bed and she on the couch, as a guest, not the other way around. She didn't want it to be like this however as she looked down upon him, his pained expression causing her to tense up as a few tears rolled down her face. She honestly was afraid for this man, her true feelings coming to the surface as she was truly crying at the sight of it. She crying over a pirate's struggles for life, she who once attempted to hunt them down for profit. Kira did her best to talk to Reks, to assure him that everything was going to be alright, that he was going to be okay. She frantically holding on his hand as she looked down upon him, her words she knew could only amount to nothing but comfort, but in the end was there any truth to it, did she know his current status of health?
The old man had been pushing himself to keep furthering this young woman, to continue her progress at the cost of his own well being. It didn't take long for Kira to think to this, think to a sacrifice that this man had made for her and it brought the weight of the world down upon her, she was quick to collapse to her knees, a sharp pain forming in both her chest and throat as she looked on at Reks who had practically been like family to her. She wouldn't even be alive today if it wasn't for him. This man had taken her in and got her back on her feet rather then allowing her to just simply die on some dirt road after being betrayed by her friend. He never once asked a single thing from her and refused to allow her to leave due to her own prejudice. He was what had changed her views all together what he allowed her to be born anew, to grow as a person and there was nothing she could do to help him. She couldn't simply turn back the hands of time to make it all better, she was helpless to just sit there and watch this man slowly die as she held on his hand.
Reks slowly lifted a hand, a hand which shook violently as he turned to face this young woman. Forcing that old smile onto his face, although it could be seen her was straining as he did so. This only made Kira cry out for him to take it easy, but he would have none of it as he did his best to calm her down, even as he lie presumably on his death bed. Naturally it had the opposite effect as she merely shook her head as she sobbed, unwilling to accept what she knew was going to happen. Still Reks continued to try and console her, giving her his last wishes "Please, go out to sea, show the world what I have shown you...". These last and final words would remain in Kira's head even until this day as she watched and listened to this man give his final breath before his hand fell limp in her own. Kira at this lost it, letting out a cry of sorrow as she looked on, her sobbing evolving into full fledged crying as she looked on.
She desperately begging him to wake up, to quit fooling around with her. Her mind without reason as she simply refused to believe that he had passed on continued to try and coax him from his eternal sleep, although deep down she knew it was futile. Letting go of his hand, she quickly grabbed him by the front of his shirt and sat him up as she continued to scream at him, even going as far as to shake his lifeless body but yet nothing happened. This sent Kira into a frenzy as she jumped back to her feet and ran from the room out into the main part of the house, tripping as she did only to fall onto her hands and knees in the middle of the floor. The tears flowing forth from her eyes dripping down on and coating the floor. Her fists had soon tensed up as her sorrow and grief soon began to take an angry turn, her body beginning to shake as the realization was setting in with her. He was gone, this man, this decent man was dead and there wasn't anything she could do about it. She could only watch helplessly as he died infront of her.
She continued to scream out as she soon began to slam her right fist against the ground, Punching it repeatedly as if to vent her frustrations and possibly without the slightest hint of control within her. Punch after punch she felt the pain rising in her hand as it began to take its toll on her. Before too long each strike left her with less and less feeling in her hand until she could no longer make a fist, blood dripping from her knuckles as the skin had been torn away from roughly making contact with the wooden floor. Still she weakly slapped her hand against it as she continued to wail, eventually feeling the strength slipping away from her body, leaving her to collapse onto the floor chest first. Her whimpers softening as she lay there until finally she passed out. Throughout the night, Kira of course had dreams about the times she had spent together with this old man, the constant war between them as Kira had learned of his piracy days. The constant smile on his face as he looked over her shoulder as she worked on maps under his careful guidance, each and every time he knocked her to the ground during their sparring matches.
When it was all said and done however, Kira awoke the next morning and nothing had changed from the night before. Looking down at the ground her tears had dried and as she got to her feet and made her way back into the room she had spent so much time in whilst here. She still saw body of Reks as he lie there. She felt the tears building up within her again, but she did her best to fight them as she reached a hand out and quietly shut the door to the room. She was going to allow him to sleep peacefully in his own bed for the first time in a year or two. Solemnly Kira left that house, heartbroken, having only a compass that he had given her whilst teaching her the ways of a navigator to remember him by. The experience had left Kira in yet another reflective state as she continued to think back to the time she had spent with the old man, what he had taught her and done for her, and of course what he asked of her.
He wanted Kira to go out to sea which could mean a few things, to simply travel the world on her own to utilize the skills he had given her. She however had quickly decided and knew what she must do. To honor this man for what he had done, the second life he had practically given her, she would go out to sea indeed. Not as a Bounty Hunter, but as the very things she used to hunt, a Pirate. The simple realization, or even call it a revelation, either way she knew that she wanted to go out to sea as the very scoundrel she was raised to fear and prove the world wrong. To show the world that not every Pirate was to be feared, that genuine good men could be found at sea and not only the scary images which had been painted into one's mind over the years. She owed it not only to herself and the old man, but also to Asura, to show her friend that all this time they had been truly wrong in their assumptions.
First things first however, she knew one thing, and that was that she had a stop to make before she would embark on her journey to sea. She needed to revisit where her life had started, she needed to return home. using her new skills it didn't strain her to do so and to find that small little village where she had been born. Upon stepping upon the very soil of the village she immediately felt a funny feeling of complete ease mixed with one of uncertainty. It had been so long since she had been seen. A few of the passing villagers stared upon her with a look of disbelief as they whispered amongst each other in regards to what they were seeing, the once young girl Kira who left here as a teenager was now a young woman. Taking a few uneasy steps further into the small town, Kira made her way through, doing her best to ignore the constant whispers and fingers being pointed at her as she made her way to an all too familiar sight, her old home.
Slowly she opened the door to find her parents both sitting at the table inside, both now staring at the door which had suddenly opened and immediately showing smiles of relief to see their baby girl again. The natural reaction as the shock wore off was simple for them as the two of them hopped to their feet and ran to their daughter whom they hadn't seen in quite some time and of course had worried for night after night as to her well being. The next logical point of action was for each of them to catch up on things, her Mother and Father sharing a few funny stories but other then that it seemed as if she hadn't missed that much since her first departure. When it came time for Kira's turn to tell her stories of the time she had spent in East Blue away from home, she immediately felt a bit of butterflies his her stomach. Slowly and carefully she had maneuvered in her story forward as it had happened, up until the point where she and Asura shared their final embrace, she leaving out the fact that it had been Asura who had done it. She didn't want to trouble the village that the two friends had grown up in together over this matter without having spoken with her friend first.
Never the less, her folks didn't take the news of her nearly dying well, her mother becoming somewhat emotional over the fact whilst her father retained a stern face as she went on about the time she had spent with Reks. The kind old man who was responsible for her still being alive today, even through her stubbornness. Sharing a few of the funny stories she had whilst round him had caused Kira a great deal of pain as she explained his untimely death, explaining the painful experience of losing what was truly a good man in this world. Her parents expressed their sympathy to hear that which Kira could only nod too. She had chosen her order of things quite wisely however, in the very least in her mind she had. She had wanted to explain her time, and his good deeds whilst avoiding the touchy subject regarding him until after they could see who he really was rather then what he was.
Almost frantically after alerting her parents to his days of piracy, she was quick to assert her own dreams of going to sea, to show the world what he had shown her. She truly wanted to erase this ridiculous fear that many had which blinds their true judgement from time to time, to label people for a group title rather then what they are individually. She herself was a victim of such a thing and she wanted to mend her ways so to speak. She poured her heart out to her parents whom she expected would simply look at her in disgust at what their daughter was to become. Yet they only continued to show her that smile they had as she walked in that door, that relief upon seeing their baby girl alive and well. Extending their support to her wishes under a few conditions, one being which she would have to stay a few days at the very least before she parted yet again from them. This meant alot to Kira who for the first time since watchign Reks die infront of her felt as if she was peace.
The next few days for Kira were complete bliss as she had managed to spend time with her family. Having her parents understanding and support was all that she truly needed in this world as she looked to venture off into the Blue's and even Grand Line and fulfill the old man's wishes. The time spent with her folks however felt all to short as she was then again off onto her voyage. Once again leaving their village, again at square one, only this time she didn't have Asura by her side as she began anew. This fact only crumbled Kira a bit inside as she felt somewhat empty without her friend there to help her when she needed it, and not having a back of her own to watch. It paved a very lonely road ahead of her. Still, Kira had a grand determination and a fire in her soul as she began this journey, she feeling that her debt to Reks needed to be paid before she could allow herself any rest. Who was to say that Kira wouldn't run into a group of like minded people to share her near adventures with along the way?
Relationships:Asura/Childhood Friend/AliveKira's childhood friend, born and raised the two of them in the same village to which they were rarely seen without the other somewhere. The two had been nearly inseparable during these days and as you could have guess grew to be fast friends, the best of friends to the other. Their early childhood had been revolved around pirate hunting, based upon the beliefs that they had been raised into, the two of them together wanted nothing more then to bring these bad men of the sea to justice. The two even formed a bit of a promise based around this, to do this, together. Still young , but no longer children the two of them had set off to do that. As the story would go, some unfortunate things would happen on their travels. They had met three goons which didn't help their case in the least and as it would turn out, they were awful at this whole bounty hunting thing.
So bad that they were never even in the same ballpark it seemed when it came to anything at all nautical. How could they call themselves Bounty Hunters when they had yet to even see a "bad man"? As the tension grew and eventually came to a head, Kira soon felt a sword in her back delivered by her friend Asura. After she had helped fight off these other men, Kira even diving in the way of some of their attacks meant for her dear friend. Her body ravaged, she had no defense against Asura's betrayal, not as if she was expecting it anyhow. Nevertheless her long time friend from Dawn Island had literally stabbed her in the back after allowing those three to weaken her up, almost like she had planned the entire thing. Still even to this day she doesn't hold a grudge against her and still will address Asura as her dear friend from the village she grew up in with sincerity in her voice. She still does view this woman as her friend, even through the betrayal, afterall that's what friends are for right, to forgive one another?
Kira has always viewed Asura as to be a strong type of person, perhaps not entirely physically strong, although she couldn't deny the fact that she was not at all lacking a pack to her strikes. Asura however always was the brains of the two, the smarter between them. While as Kira was more adept at combat and smart in her own way when it came to that, Asura was always the one to handle their business, plan their routes accordingly based upon the word of the villagers. Now whether or not their failures could be pinned on Asura's planning or what the villager's words was open to debate. If you asked Kira however, she would with out a shadow of a doubt go with her friend over the villagers, even now. Afterall who would doubt their one and only friend in this world?
Reks/Mentor/DeceasedWhat can be said about someone who not only saved your life, but allowed you to be born again into what you saw as a better person, free of the prejudice you once lived. That's basically Rek's in a nut shell for Kira, her mentor and dear friend who has passed on to another life. Still she didn't always see it like that and infact hated him at one point although he did save her. Her views of piracy blinding her eyes to what he truly was as he nursed her back to health. Reks was the type of person who wouldn't ask for any sort of compensation for what he had done either. He didn't ask for her to replace his bed sheets which were stained with blood, even as he had died upon them, he didn't ask for her to reimburse him for the food she was served whilst weak. He didn't even ask for her to replace the endless amount of bandage wrap which he had himself applied to her weakened body.
As time went on however, even through her blind eyes it became hard for her to ignore his true colors and without too much time after she had seen a light if you will. She began to see the world in a different light, her rebirth into it as a whole new person from what she was as a child, part of the magic which was this old man. Reks was quick to take her in as a student, he the mentor to better her. He teaching her how to fight more effectively, and even passing on his knowledge of navigation skills down to her as a pupil, even giving her his old compass from his days of piracy. As before mentioned however, for all his good deeds and for everything he didn't ask in return. He even gave his life for her as he refused to slow it down on his account, all in an act to continue Kira on her path to what he wanted her to become. Training if you will, for Reks didn't give his life away, he allowed Kira to take it, as thats what pirates do, and its what Reks had wanted. This is a grand example of what Kira cried that night and why she still remembers and hold him close in her thoughts.
Relatives: Jyrki (Father/Alive) Aune (Mother/Alive)
Sample RP: Tired, body and mind worn seemingly to the end. That drowsed feeling which left your body teetering slightly, face flushed, motor skills slowed, or perhaps this was just the alcohol. The Shipwreck, a local tavern on a small island within the vast are of East Blue, without question popular to the likes of which were like to be in such a place by its name. Coincidentally it was a place one such person called home, Kira, once a bounty hunter and now a lost soul. This young woman who has had quite the life and had no where else to go, nothing else to do. She for the time being was staying in the store room of this particular establishment, she having worked out a deal with the owner and bartender of this establishment. For the time being she would have to put the old man's words in the back of her mind and concentrate on how she's going to continue to keep paying to stay here, what better way then what she never could with Asura?
This young woman known as the "Crimson Fang" was seated at the bar of this place, the haunting night time air outside, this place lit by the cheap lighting fixtures one would expect of an establishment of this nature. The light dim, flickering lightly as if lit by a flame, leaving an aura around certain sweet spots near said lights whilst others were still covered in the blanket of shadow. At this time of hour the last few patrons were just leaving the bar to stumble on home or into the nearest gutter, to sleep a nights binge off. Kira knew she would be doing the same soon, feeling a bit light headed as she tipped her glass of alcohol back for another gulp, finishing off the glass and slamming it down to the bar, she immediately feeling that burning sensation which followed. Letting out a slight sigh as she eyed her now empty glass and pushed it forward for another round.
The owner, of the establishment quick to aid her in problem of the empty glass, gave her a quick refill. His eyes however swept the bar noticing the lack of customers, again normal for this time of night, and just what he was waiting for as he quickly slid a peace of paper under the glass before sliding both objects back to Kira across the bar. Clearly the placement of the paper was as such even someone who's attention span may have been hazed by the harsh brew in which they took in, they should still be able to notice this. Though of course if you were too far gone it may not have mattered as the words may aswell have been fused together. Fortunately, the young woman was not in such a case and was quick to notice the piece of paper. Lifting her glass lightly and setting it to the side, turning her attention to the paper now, noticed right away that it was a Wanted Poster.
"What's this?" She asked with a slight slur to her words, knowing full well what it was. It wasn't the first time she had looked at one of these, infact behind her across the bar there was a notice board to which these were often posted. Marks, Bounties, which ever you wanted to call them, they were the same thing, getting paid to hunt a target, retrieve an object various means of work for pay through the person who is posting the bill. It was a line of work Kira knew well to finance her travels through East Blue for quite some time. The one thing that struck the young woman as off though was the fact that this
wasn't posted on the board yet.
The bar owner turned his attention to Kira as he leaned in, gently resting his hands on the solid wooden bar to which he had served several drinks upon, a towel slung over his shoulder from previous washing a few mugs and glasses from previous use throughout the night, a smirk on his face.
"What does it look like?" He jokingly opened up with a small chuckle which only earned him a slight glare from the ever serious Kira who took another long drink of booze.
"Some mark which just came in not too long ago, seems important, I was going to post it up in a few days." Holding up his hands defensively as he further explained it to the woman. Still it only piqued her interest more as to why she was reading it now, or why he was holding it off for a few more days.
Her confusion seemed to tell the story for this man as he once again chuckled.
"Call it a head start for all the help you've been around here." This would cause a bit of a grin to form over Kira's lips as she studied the poster a bit more, attempting to take in the details a bit further as she continued to down the rest of her drink. The poster suggested a simple "Dead or Alive" clause which ultimate meant she didn't
have to stain her hands on this one, and there was a huge reward. Well for her that is all she really needed to know aside the brief description of the target, some girl, she didn't know or cared. Aslong as she could identify her it was an income for her. Downing the rest of her drink in one long gulp, she slammed her glass down again and shakily got to her feet. Making a mental note to grab her weapon off the bar which throughout the night had done its fair share of intimidating a few patrons. The sheer weight of the glove in her drunken state was enough to knock her a bit off balance.
Allowing herself a slight giggle from this, rare to ever hear from this woman, she slowly began to make her way for the storage room to sleep this off. Along the way she rolled the information around in her head regarding this mark. Her appearance description, name, still she couldn't help but feel something was missing. Such as what this woman was capable of or why she was wanted in the first place. With a sigh, Kira simply dismissed the missed information, not wanting to turn around and stumble her way for the bar again where the poster still lay as the owner went back to cleaning the glasses. What were the odds this would be a fatal mistake in skipping this information just this once?
Possessions and Weaponry
Everyday Items: A compass, a gift from the old pirate.
Other Items: Gloves, although also in appearance, these offer a slight bit of protection for her hands, not much though as there is nothing special about them.
Weapons:None, Her fists do the fighting for her.
Devil Fruit:
Name: Shagi Shagi No Mi (Size-Size)
Type:Paramecia
Rank: B
Fruit Appearance: The fruit is a bit on the large size, round and a deep red in color. It slightly larger then your avergage Devil Druit and shaped somewhat like a grapefruit. Atop the fruit it is adorned with freakishly small leaves which seem so out of place on it. It is also adorned with the traditional designs you would find on one, although there is a mix of large and small designs on it.
Powers Given: The power given by this fruit is very straight forward, it grants control over one's size. Allowing the user to grow up to the size of a traditional giant. Although this is merely appearance, while the size may be intimidating she is not infact as durable as one as she is infact, just a big human. On the other side of things, Kira can also reduce her size for utility reasons, whether it be stealth or slipping under doors, or even convenience. As is, with her gaining strength in large form, she is granted speed in small form.
